autumn drizzle…
I find
an old love letter
with promises
of a sunlit sky

each morning
if the sun shows up
together we climb the hill

for sale sign
on my parents’ cottage…
too many summers

grandfather’s cane
from father to son-in-law
autumn wind

odd pains
little twinges
just age
I tell myself
not wanting to know more

how does winter start?
the sloughed skin
of a snake

over the wheel like
Catherine’s
belly clenches
jostled onto
tightly welded
slivers
or covered by
plaster, flawless
puttied into
loveliness
perhaps
pilgrimage,
a brazen sky
