a silver birch

your spark nearly hidden
by falling snow…
how nameless songs
kindle the fire within

a slick
of moonlight across
dark water
the way our wounds
fill up with silver

my eyesight
not what it once was
but, oh
the way a rainbow blurs
into iridescence

I gently strum
a lark’s bleached ribcage…
how long
have you lain here
with your mossy heart
