old ramparts
in every crack
a fragment of history

suburban living
it’s so easy to forget
where the wild things are

under the May sun
ripening together
barley and poppies

weight room
what’s wrong with those arms
bare of tattoos

in windless stillness—
the quick flight of
a pair of ground doves

just after harvest
in the rural market
long awaited scents

my heart
opens and hurts
my mind
checks the latest data
and vaccine availability
