David Briese (Australia)

David Briese is a retired research scientist from Australia. Since retiring, he and his wife have travelled widely, mainly to do long-distance walks and cycling trips. On a recent trip to Japan, they walked part of the 17th century route taken by Basho, reading his journal of places visited. This generated an interest in the different forms of Japanese poetry, which are largely based on their travels.
